Galaxy on Fire™ is an epic space shooter and trader with adventure and RPG elements. In a huge galaxy with hundreds of planets and space stations, you take on the role of Keith T. Maxwell, a hot-headed fighter pilot who becomes a key figure in the Terran Forces’ hard-fought war against an aggressive alien race known as Vossk. In the course of the game’s main storyline, you’ll be working your way up from gun-for-hire to squadron leader and stand your ground in all kinds of ambitious missions and assignments. During your adventurous flights you can collect loot from the enemy vessels you’ve taken down and sell it in order to equip your own craft with better weapons and power-ups. Besides the regular story missions, you will also be able to take on various freelance missions – sometimes dubious and sometimes lucrative – which will be given to you by shady alien characters.

If you want to progress faster, you can either obtain credit packs via in-app purchase or make use of a broad selection of offerwalls and other benefits. Of course, you can play the game fully without spending a single buck!

Dont get me wrong, it is a pretty good game, but it gets really repetitive after a while. There are only a few ship types available to the player and not enough variety in the upgrades. It feels more like a beta version than a full polished release. The graphics are pretty good, as a plus. After the plot ends, it takes a very long time to earn enough money to get the higher end upgrades; an when you do, it doesnt look like there will be any enemies that will match your power. They need to lower the prices of the existing weapons (a lot) and add another 5-10 tiers of upgrades, enemies, and player ships. SIZE IS NOT A CONCERN! If you made the game great, no one would want to delete it anyways, no matter the size. One last thing; the accelerometer controls need quite a bit of work; you cant even turn upwards correctly without tilting your device like crazy. That said, the plot is okay, and I always like games with an upgrade system. Upgradeable ships is nice, too; but you need adjustable speed, maybe incorporating a slider. That way the acceleration speed could be added into the game, giving a bit more variety in ships. Weapon load outs could be improved slightly as well. Bottom line, not worth $2.99, maybe $1.99. Good game.
I just have one problem: HOW THE HECK DO YOU DODGE ENEMY FIRE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Im stuck on the 4th mission (the one were you have to destroy enemy escort/ cargo ships) Im like TRYING to fire on a vossk plane (oh and another problem the machine guns are SO FRICKIN HARD to aim and shoot and WHY are the other planes you get to buy are so expensive?! I need missles NOW!) and some DONKEY (not literaly) starts firing at me and their guns do heckuva damage and Im like : "GET OFF MY BACK CANT YOU SEE THAT IM FIRING AT YOUR COMRADE?!Wait a sec.........now I get it you dont want me to fire at him.....TOO BAD!! *continues to fire*" Vossk:*fires at me* Me:*dies* "aww crud he killed me" so if you guys have any tips/tricks on how to dodge enemy fire please tell me in a review. please n thank you. hee hee 
Treat all enemy fighters like theyre air combat veterans from the gulf war. They know how to shoot ahead of you so the fire will hit you instead of behind you. My advice is use boost. Activate it and run away. Halfway througth the boost, turn around to get behind the enemy and auto fire your guns. Follow the red plus sign, NOT THE BOX. If your attacking one enemy and your getting hit my another/ multiple enemies, do a steep dive then point your nose back at your target. If you dont like my strategy, just lower the game difficulty in settings, LOL
A great game, reminds me of freelancer however I find its extremely glitchy running on my 3G. I dont recommend downloading this if you have an iPhone 3G simply due to the glitchiness, for everyone else? Download immediatly.
Galaxy fire 2 is probably gonna have all the good stuff and has a high probability of being a paid app :( 
This game is exactly what Ive been waiting for. There is no other game out there like this, great execution of the concept. It gets a bit repetitive and I wish there was more of a story line, quests interweaved and more of a RPG aspect to the game. Keep it up!!

Some bad moments

Dont listen to those who said its addictive: after the first 15 missions, its the same thing again and again. Theres no variety in the choice of missions, you fly in space for 5 minutes, nothing to do. Dont buy it.
Buy Galaxy on Fire 2 HD instead for three obvious reasons: - High Definition PS3 Graphics instead of ugly PSOne Graphics - Full Voice Acting instead of dead boring silence all the time - Way better Sound Effects and Controls for the whole 5 star sci-fi experience Dont buy this version...
Loved this game but it freezes in the same place every time and I cant go any further.
This game is good, for the part of it that works. The cutscene bug in mission 12 ruins the game though, and I cant give more than 1 star to a game thats this broken. Making cutscenes skippable might be a workable fix. An update for widescreen devices would be nice too. iOS 6.0.1 on an iPod 5th gen.
The graphics look great, a whole lot better than the regular one. At least on the title screen. I havent played on the HD version yet because it wont play my game that is saved on iCloud that I transferred from the regular version. It says that I require the expansions, but it wont restore my purchases when I try.
Like another reviewer stated, when you chase after the traitor "Vlad" your wing mate Christine will just suffer an endless cutscene loop after Vlad is spotted. I flew ahead of her on a reload and I got killed instantly by Vlad and it was an endless cutscene of Vlad flying around. Ive repeated this 5 separate times and it locks up in an endless cutscene. About 20min into the game.
