Treat all enemy fighters like theyre air combat veterans from the gulf war.
They know how to shoot ahead of you so the fire will hit you instead of behind you. My advice is use boost. Activate it and run away. Halfway througth the boost, turn around to get behind the enemy and auto fire your guns. Follow the red plus sign, NOT THE BOX.
If your attacking one enemy and your getting hit my another/ multiple enemies, do a steep dive then point your nose back at your target.
If you dont like my strategy, just lower the game difficulty in settings, LOL
